About Us

Holy Ascension has as its mission, by the grace of God, to be a place where the Most Holy Trinity is worshiped, served and honored, where the Good News of Our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ, is announced, where the Holy Mysteries (sacraments) and Divine Services are celebrated (always entirely in the English language), where the faithful strive to alleviate the world’s misery, and where each believer can find salvation (Acts 2: 4-6).

Like each Local Church in worldwide Orthodox Christianity, Holy Ascension Mission strives to be the light of the world (Matthew 5: 14 - 16), the leaven (Matthew 13: 33), and the community of God (1 Peter 2: 5, 9). The canonical norms which govern the Orthodox Church aim at ensuring this mission.

By virtue of the very Baptism, which makes sincere and genuine inquirers and candidates, members of the Body of Christ, the Holy Orthodox Church, each baptized person is called, according to the gifts of the one Holy Spirit, to serve within Holy Ascension Mission (1 Corinthians 12: 4 - 27).

The spiritual gifts of the members of Holy Ascension have their origin in the one Holy Spirit, and are directed to the good of all.

The fruit of this service is to gather into an authentic communion of faith, prayer, mission, fraternal love and mutual aid.

All are called to be renewed by the Holy Spirit in the Holy Mysteries and to respond in constant repentance (metanoia), humility and with love, so that their communion in truth and charity is ensured.

GLORY TO GOD FOR ALL THINGS!
