Holy Ascension is an English-Speaking Orthodox Christian Church situated in inner Melbourne, Australia. It is made up of people from all walks of life. Holy Ascension is a service to the general public, providing the ancient, traditional and Divine Services of the Orthodox Church in the English language.

Orthodox Christianity in English for All Australians

​People of all backgrounds are welcome to attend and observe the Orthodox Christian Way of Life at Holy Ascension. Our Lord, God and Saviour, Jesus Christ is Truth Himself: I am the Way, Truth and Life (John 14: 6). Sincere seekers of Truth who desire to enter into the Orthodox Christian Faith are welcome.​

Holy Ascension does not promote the  agenda of any ethnicity, nor are we involved in projecting the “soft power” of any so-called “Orthodox mother country.” We are just a small community wishing to worship God as brothers and sisters in Christ in a language we understand, without pushing any ethnic agendas or political ideologies on each other.

At the same time, we bemoan the political polarization of society and within the Orthodox Church, and call all to remember that we are created, each of us without exception, in the image and likeness of God. We strongly condemn conspiracism, extremism, fundamentalism, nationalism, and irridentism. We call to repentance those who would perpetrate acts of violence or hatred.
