A Visitation of Holy Relics at the Mission

January 13, 2019

On Sunday, 13 January 2019 (Sunday after Nativity), the Holy Relics of St Seraphim of Sarov and Venerable Nicephorus the Leper, visited Holy Ascension Mission.

The Holy Relics were brought out from the sanctuary in procession just prior to the beginning of the Divine Liturgy, where they remained in the nave for the duration of the Divine Liturgy for the faithful to venerate.

Clergy and faithful alike were pleasantly surprised by this wonderful blessing to visit our Mission. Upon opening the reliquary of Venerable Nicephorus the Leper, a powerful and sweet-smelling fragrance was emitted instantly.

St Seraphim of Sarov is commemorated on January 2/15. Click this link to read the Life of St Seraphim of Sarov.

Venerable Nicephorus the Leper is commemorated on January 4/17. Click this link to read the Canonization and Life of Venerable Nicephorus the Leper.

May we have their prayers and intercessions, and may they guide and protect our benefactor who brought them to the Mission.
